The Mister Intercontinental Pageant is one of the most watched and interesting pageant for the new male model. At the same time Miss Intercontinental starts in 1971, there also was an idea to a competition for men called Mister Intercontinental, to give equal opportunities to both sexes. Althought precisly planed in attracting contestants it was waived as it was the wrong time.
In the end 70īs there was till the inequality between men and women. Women entered contests and paraded on catwalks, not men. The conception then was that the only men who parade were body builders or male models, not ordinary men with intelligence and good physiques. In other words, the male equivalent of the girls who entered Miss Intercontinental and over the years these girls changed from 90% beiing budding models to 90% beiing students taking a sabbatical between college and university and using the money they won to further their education. Miss Intercontinental was now seeing potential doctors, lawyers, computer engineers and other professional people entering. The sexes were now considered in most countries as beeing equal and so it was that in 1997 WBO decided to accede to the call by men for equal opportunity by calling out for the first Mister Intercontinental. Because of the experience of the german office who started the first Mister Germany in 1994 it was an instant success, attracting just the right young men WBO were aiming for.
2006 marks the 6th year of the MISTER INTERCONTINENTAL Pageant, which began in 1998 in Dresden, the capitol of the state Sachsen in Germany.
Because of the success the organizers decided to held and establish the pageant in germany. Due the development of Miss Intercontinental and Top Model of the World in China we didnīt negotiate for Mister Intercontinental in 2003 and 2004. Now the contest is ready to travel for its first time abroad.
