Miss Intercontinental 2016 – Safari experience

08th October 2016

It’s Nora Ndem here and I’m your current Miss Intercontinental Cameroon here.

Being in a beauty pageant is certainly not new for most of us here representing our equally beautifully great nations. So waking up at 5am everyday and 6.30am all glamed up breakfasts and long exciting days that follow is no news either. But it’s all so worth it for the opportunity to represent and raise our flags high to the world.

Being part of Miss Intercontinental is most certainly an honor and a privilege and the best part is getting to live out the luxury of the Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts.

Leaving the big city lights of Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, we travelled across the island  for hours while battling the suppressing but comfortable grip of jet lag as most of us travelled halfway across the globe and were and are still adjusting to the significant time change.

Now to the highlight of the day; after over 4 hours on the road, passing many villages, we finally arrive at our next and so far our favorite of the Cinnamon Hotels; Cinnamon Habanara Lodge. From Colombo city to culture filled Habanara. Oh my oh my, how do I forget the hospitality of the people; „a ye bo wan“ is all I can say and we are most grateful .

The most exciting part of our fabulous day was the visit to the safari which was obviously a first for myself and most of the girls.

The ride there was so beautiful and full of joy, screams as the girls just let it go, loosened up and gracefully let the people of Sri Lanka know we are here.

we had the expectation of seeing lots of elephants and We were not disappointed

There were elephants everywhere and you can get real close to them. Being able to see a whole family with their baby elephants is certainly one of the highlights of this national park.

I think It is going to be where we had the fondest memories of our quick trip through Sri Lanka. In Habarana,  we witnessed hundreds of elephants migrating through the Minneriya National Park. The island is home to over 7,000 wild Asian elephants.

Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. Yesterday’s travel across and around the beautiful island of Sri Lanka was a beautiful experience . The culture, people ,scenic views, the safari visit and wild rides were all together breathtaking. Thank you Miss Intercontinental and Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts for this once a lifetime opportunity.
